Housing FAQ

Housing frequently asked questions

Clear answers about the housing model — what it is, who it's for, and how availability is verified.

What kind of housing does PHN provide?+

PHN connects people to independent, nonmedical shared housing. We do not provide nursing, treatment, assisted living, medication management, detoxification or hands-on personal care. Housing must be operated under applicable local and state rules.

Does PHN guarantee housing or a bed?+

No. PHN is a referral network. Availability, rates, vacancy and authorized occupancy are confirmed individually for each property. We do not publish unverified availability or make housing guarantees.

Who can be referred?+

Veterans and military families, returning citizens, adults leaving emergency or transitional shelters, working adults, independent older adults, adults receiving outside community supports, and people facing housing instability.

Which markets does PHN serve?+

Flint, Michigan is the first operating-property priority. Raleigh, North Carolina and Detroit, Michigan are expansion and referral markets. Other markets are added only after referral sources, regulatory conditions and operator relationships are validated.

How does PHN handle fair housing and accommodations?+

PHN supports individualized reasonable accommodation reviews and fair-housing compliance. We never use blanket exclusion language regarding disabilities or criminal history.

How do I become a housing partner or list a property?+

Operators and landlords can submit interest through the Housing Partners page. PHN vets each partner and property before any listing or referral.
